Yesterday we visited London Zoo which is located within Regents Park in central London. It is easily accessible by both train and bus and is a short walk from Lords Cricket Ground.
We were really impressed with the zoo as there were some animals there we had not seen in a British zoo before such as gorillas and kangaroos. There are lots of interactive features around the site and so many different areas to explore such as a butterfly house, aviary, aquarium, reptile house etc. There are shows and feedings going on throughout the day that you can watch too. We saw one about mammals but there are others about reptiles and nocturnal animals too. There are also plenty of play areas with climbing equipment dotted throughout the zoo for the kids to let off steam on. A great thing about the zoo is just how close you can get to the animals, in particular the penguins, tigers and gorillas. There were some really interesting features too such as a bug gallery where you could look at images in 3D, a balmy rain forest complete with sloths, armadillos and various other creatures and even a nocturnal animal section with bats, bush babies and Loris's. There is also the worlds only free roaming spider walk through which luckily for me is not that big !! We would highly recommend London Zoo for a day out. |
